Ferguson calls in authorities to wipeout 're-emerging' racism in football

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has urged football authorities to end racism in football, which is re-emerging once again.

He said he was left stunned by a series of high-profile racism controversies that emerged last year, out of which one was quite close to him, as Manchester United captain Patrice Evra was racially abused by Liverpool's Luis Suarez.

"I don't understand at all where it's coming from. This is a moment where we have to take stock and we should do something about it if it's surfacing again, and be really hard and firm on any form or shape of racism," said Ferguson.

"There have been a couple of examples recently which is not good. In 2012, you can't believe it. It was obvious maybe 20 years ago and the improvements have been for everyone to see."

The Guardian quoted Ferguson, as saying that he has enjoyed great relationship with black players he had worked with.

"I have had some fantastic black players, absolutely magnificent black players, and with every one of them I have enjoyed my working relationship with them," he added.

Meanwhile, Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has tried to re-ignite the controversy with Manchester United by claiming that Suarez should have never been banned ahead of their highly anticipated Premier League match at Old Trafford on Saturday. (ANI)
